World Arrangement

Three Aspects of Being

So, what is the arrangement of Ragnesis – the world that has become the Celestial’s haven for many years, and a home for erlanies?
Entire Ragnesis exists simultaneously at least in three aspects of being. These are:
— material world;
— the other world, or the spectral world (its another name is “the world of night-dreams”);
— “the inside” (it is also called “the world energy”).
As a matter of fact, these are not three different worlds; these are rather a single space-time continuum whose parts are available for their perception by particular creatures. For instance, during their life erlanies mainly perceive the material world. It is only sometimes in their sleep that they can get into the spectral world; conversely, after their death material world becomes not available to them. While Mor-leh’Gharrs do exist in the two aspects of being simultaneously: in the material world and in the spectral one.

Primeval and “Vital” Energy

All the three aspects of being are penetrated by flows of the so called primeval pure energy. In the material world they are barely perceptible, however they play significant role in the life of Ragnesis.
Even though commonly only material world is available to enlanies while they are alive, they are just as involved in the energy circulation, as any are living things in Ragnesis. Some researches claim that nations of Ragnesis are more than any other living things (probably, with the exception of primeval inhabitants of the world, and the Celestials) capable of changing and transforming energy.
During his or her life any ernaly will “wind” a certain amount of energy around his/her soul (the soul can be compared with a core that the energy will be wound around). To be more precise – this energy seems to undergo modification as compared to its natural condition. This will definitely be quite a simplified comparison, but ernalies can be referred to as certain “accumulators” of energy. The energy modified this way is called “vital”.
During their lives erlanies not only accumulate energy; they also give it away. In the 1st century After Exodus it was absolutely certainly proven that during prayers, and while performing sacrificial ceremonies*, traditional holy festivals accompanied by rituals, etc., erlanies provide part of their “vital” energy to the Celestials. It is not known for certain who uses it and what for. However, time and again it happens that an erlany who had been praying devoutly or who had sacrificed a lot and who became exhausted as a result, will eventually restore his or her power and find out that from now on they will be always lucky! This happens very often even after the Celestials’ Exodus, so even those erlanies who are not very religious would from time to time resort to praying, and when holidays occur they do not forget to perform all the rituals prescribed by their faith.

* Officially approved offerings for sacrifice include: flowers, fruit, objects, certain deeds/actions (accompanied by a verbal formulation which is mandatory in such case); however there are forbidden cults in Ragnesis that practice sacrificing living beings.

Finally, when erlanies die, they will be deprived of the accumulated energy – partially or completely. This depends, among other things, on virtues of the deceased erlany’s soul that serves as a “core” for the energy: it is stipulated by to what extend the deceased was ready for transition from material to spectral world; it also depends on how much energy the soul has accumulated during the life. If an erlany is not able to return from the spectral world into the material one, then the soul and the released energy will eventually vanish. (To be more precise, scientists can not say where exactly they go. There are certain theories which are more or less plausible, but none of them has yet been confirmed).
If an erlany managed to survive in the spectral world and returned to the material one, in the course of transition between the worlds a certain part of the accumulated energy will be lost.
But sooner of later all ernalies die anyway, and again the accumulated energy goes nobody knows where.
By the way, this fact caused vivid discussions among some energy masters of Ragnesis. Energy masters are some of erlanies who have become advanced in their esoteric and spiritual development, those who have learnt to perceive “the finest” aspect of being and have devoted their lives to researching “the insides”. According to Lahnleh er Doodrihan, the most prominent scholar of the 3rd century After Exodus, energy in the world does not appear from nowhere and doesn’t disappear to nowhere. In other worlds, if a certain amount of energy disappears in one place, it must appear somewhere in another place (in energy flow, in energy “junction”, etc.). However, up to now scholars failed to find out where the energy accumulated during an erlany’s life goes after the erlany dies.
For a while there have been two theories as to where the “vital” energy goes. Both of them agreed that no drastic changes have been observed in Ragnesis related to mass death of erlanies, for instance during wars. Entire Ragnesis has been more or less examined, except for the two places: one is Nehzisgahr, its “shadow part” (the part of the ancient world that had been cut off after the Small Collapse). Another place is Allehor, the Heavenly Island.
So, according to the followers of the two theories, that is where the “vital” energy goes – to Nehzisgahr (the first theory), or to Allehor (the second theory).
In the course of time the first theory has become less popular. Its opponents proved inconsistency of the theory indicating that the Celestials would hardly allow the survived Mor-leh’Gharrs or their servants continuously get such a great amount of energy for nothing.
On the other hand, not a single erlany has been present at Allehor, and in point, nobody knew anything about its nature and arrangement. Furthermore, the most daring advocates of the second theory claimed it was quite possible that the Celestials are deliberately consuming or accumulating the “vital energy” for some reasons; and that Ragnesis nations altogether have been created by them for these purposes; and finally that the reason the Celestial had changed the world was not love for creation as such, but rather a necessity: they allegedly can travel among worlds only together while joining their energy to open portals and, when Mor-leh’Gharrs had killed several Celestials the remaining ones found themselves locked in Ragnesis against their will. Since that time they have been accumulating energy to open the portal and to leave this world for their own.
This well-composed theory which still has not been confirmed, was extremely popular at the end of the first thousand years when, as is well known, Lahrden started visiting the Etreions more and more often and resumed His relations with them. Advocates of this theory suppose that the Celestial deliberately or occasionally blurted out to some of His creatures about actual reasons for why they had been created. Or, according to another version, the Celestials hoped sooner of later to help erlanies advance to a higher energy level and to proceed to a more developed stage of existence when the erlanies would be able to help the Celestials to open the portal between worlds.
This theory sounds very plausible but it doesn’t have any evidences. For a while it used to be popular; however later it has lost its followers probably because (among other reasons) according to the theory erlanies turned out to be just “buckets” for the Celestials to scoop energy for Their own purposes.
As a result, an officially recognized theory is the one according to which the “vital energy” just returns to its initial state. We have to admit: this theory is not too convincing, but it suits nearly everybody.
Energy masters of Ragnesis still hope that sooner or later they will find out the true state of affairs; however too much has changed after the Great Collapse, and they have to revise their former ideas of the world, since the entire structure of energy flows has changed!

Ragnesis Outward Appearance

So, the structure of each aspect of being has changed after the Collapses. The most information is known about changes in the material world, since erlanies mainly perceive only this aspect.
The appearance of primeval Ragnesis is not known to anybody except for the Celestials and a handful of the survived ancient beasts. In Their conversations with Their nations the Celestials very reluctantly dwelled upon anything which to any extent was related to the age before the Small Collapse. And if ancient beasts encounter erlanies, they are even less disposed towards having conversations about history and cosmogony.
After the Small Collapse, a part of Ragnesis has been broken off (it is considered that this is where Mor-leh’Gharrs still live, along with some other creatures that had populated this world before the Celestials arrived). What concerns the remaining world – the Celestials have changed it and cured the wounds They had caused while fighting with the primeval inhabitants of Ragnesis.
As a result, by the time ernalies appeared the world was something like a huge disc. In its center the most fertile lands were located: the lands favorable for living, with wide plains, with rivers, with low hills and shadowing forests. That was a country of the Etreions called Rantayol. But lands of other nations also partially occupied this natural area. The Faldorts’ lands lied mainly in the South with many mountains and with plains that had rather rocky soil. The Giltaries occupied eastern part of the world covered with dense impassible forests. The Saihens inhabited the Western part in a mountainous but warm area with a plenty of canyons and mountain rivers. And, finally, the Bushtargs populated the Northern part, where savannas were turning into a desert, into the scorched earth with black spots because of volcanic bursts.
The lands occupied by different nations were different both in natural conditions, and in their size. Their borders ran along river-beds or along mountain crests; later as wars broke out and as frontier zones often passed around, this certainly resulted in the borders shifting too… and then the Great Collapse occurred, and the borders dwindled.
As far as external borders of the world are concerned, those were different. Somewhere the world’s edge was limited by high insuperable mountains, in other places – by impassable forests where trees were so closely intertwined that it didn’t seem possible to hack through them; in other places the edge of the inhabited world was defined by a fathomless abyss – and only grey opaque mist was swirling further. Those who attempted to descent sooner or later admitted their defeat… besides, not all of them managed to return, since the rocks were sheer, their slopes were crumbling and peeling off into the abyss…
After the Great Collapse, Ragnesis turned into hundreds of small and large islands floating in the merrel, or lifeless mist. Some of these islands are connected by portals, either permanent or temporary ones.

Spectral World

The above concerns description of Ragnesis as perceived by erlanies from inside the material aspect of being. As far as the spectral world is concerned, as a matter of fact, it is a part of the material world; but the thing is that those in the spectral world are able to see the living, while the living cannot see the deceased. Even so, rivers, mountains, forests and fields are the same in the both worlds.

“Insides”

And, finally, the “insides”, or the world of energy that can be perceived by a very limited number of erlanies only. As Energy masters describe the “insides” they say it looks like an endless ocean of energy which differs in terms of its “density” and “charge”. The entire world is energy in its different forms. Some energy is quite passive and rare, other is concentrated and is constantly moving. There are streams of energy, “intersections” (or “junctures”) will be formed where those streams cross. The “insides” is not merely an aspect of being beyond the reach of most erlanies that exists “somewhere far away”, it is rather an integral and significant part of Ragnesis; many events and phenomena in material world depend upon the “insides” and are related to its structure (for instance, the castles of power).
Nations of Ragnesis, as well as other living things, even if they only perceive just one of the aspects of being, are still directly related to the other aspects. The world is single; by trying to understand its structure and its laws erlanies cognize themselves. And, perhaps, sometimes they will really reach the next stage of being and will be able to perceive Ragnesis in its entire integrity; they will cognize the beauty of harmony, and they even will be able to create their own new worlds…
