3 Ways to Wear the Puffer Jacket

by Adam Fletcher, Copywriter

More frost is being forecasted. Winter is coming. But, thanks to the arrival of November’s new puffer, you won’t mind at all. It looks just as good with tailored pieces and heeled boots at winter parties, chunky knitwear for extra-cosy daytime layering, as it does with sportswear-inspired pieces to create an early-spring ’20 look.

Here are three easy ways to totally transform the puffer coat and make it work for you, whatever your style.

1. Everyday Layering with a Roll-neck

Featuring a lightweight fabric and goes-with-everything khaki tone, this puffer coat allows for many layering opportunities with chunkier knitwear. Let us introduce the roll-neck jumper…with ribbed details, a relaxed fit and cropped cut, it’s an instant cold-weather favourite. Plus, on those (few) crisp, clear-blue-sky days of winter, look to adding a leopard-print midi and contrast with heavier boots – right now, it’s lace-up and buckle details that are refreshing fashion’s favourite black pairs.

2. Smarten Up with Tailored Pieces

Draped over or worn off-the-shoulder, there’s no denying that a smart blazer, in light-grey check prints, is a key winter piece — so why not partner it with matching high-waist trousers? The outcome: an outfit that’s both pulled together and easy to wear. To make it look less formal, style it with a plain or slogan-print T-shirt (tucked in) and, shoe-wise, try a mock-croc ankle boot with a glossy shine.

3. Pared Back With a Hoodie

Right now, puffer coats aren’t the only things that come with renewed colourways, big personalities, and added warmth – hoodies do, too. Brighter than before, but with the same casual look that we all know and love, winter’s hoodies look best when they come in a fun pop of colour. Mustard-yellow shades are a must. To complete your laid-back look, don’t forget to add a pair of contrast-panel leggings.
